how is it done? how can i do it?

There is no secret, no tricks to make it work, it is purely hit or miss. If they fight the majority of the time you'll end up with a dead aro if not separated. What you do need to have is a way to immediately separate the arowana if things go bad. So most likely you'll need to have two tanks to attempt this, with luck you'll find some taht will co habitat.

Two SA arowana will quickly out grow a 125g tank.

I figured but I do have a question how long will the 125 last them? I do have an extra 100 but that isn't set up I guess I can cycle it now incase things do turn bad. Will the 125 suffice till December? My pond should be done by then. I've try mixing 2 silver before and the result wasn't bad it wasn't perfect. How will the do in a group of 3? And also are they like other fish When it comes to housing them together? I have more experience in mixing cichlid but new to arowana. How are the Arowana mixing compares to cichlids?

Thank everyone for the advice

It is can be done but the agression will be still there..but no one will hurt or die..I have done in an so some of members here..
U might want to search the forum, I'm too lazy t8o search it for u.

LOL, Dayak working his magic again! Just awesome comedy dude!

OK so I've seen videos of a black and silver arowana coexist in a tank together but when I had my baby silvers in together the smaller nipped at the larger ones fin so I had to move him

Here's my question. I order a black baby arowana and it will be here in around 2-3 weeks my question is how can I have him in with the silver without problems?

He will be around 4 inches but my silver is at 7 right now how long will I have to grow him out more? What are the proper steps to get 2 arowana to coexist?
Arowana is fragile as baby, so you may want to grow them out until 12in or bigger, before putting them together. Also, you need to understand that they'll nip fin or tail now and then, no matter what you do. They could be peaceful in one day, and fighting the next day. They fight less in small tank, and fight more in big tank. They fight less when light is off, and more when light is on. A strong powerhead may help to distract them from fighting. However, like some stated, it's a hit and miss, even if you did all of the above suggestion, there's still a chance that they won't tolerate each other.

This will be hard for people who doesn't own arowana, or doesn't own multiple arowana in a tank to understand, hence the "facepalm!" Multiple arowana can be coexist in the same tank. However, it doesn't mean they don't show aggression to each other. There will be some fin or tail nipping now and then, but they won't tear each other apart.

If the aggression is still there it didn't work, it failed. Fin and tail nipping now and then isn't "aggression".

I know what fin Niping and aggression is fin nipping is like a tease like the other know who's boss aggression is pretty much bullying one till it dies. Aggression and fin nipping isn't specific to arowana its pretty much for all fish. I'm not worry bout fins being nip it happens and it heals its aggression that I'm scare of.

As I said I tried it with 2 silver and there was aggression and I was wondering ifthere was something I was doing wrong.rule of thumb about fish is hit and miss I know but what I'm trying to accomplish with this thread is to increase my success rate.

As in if I 3 arowana in a tank instead of two the aggression will he spreader out or something. That's what I'm asking. If there IA anything I can do to increase my success rate.

The main reason for aggression as far as i understand is to show their dominance and food.. long back i used to have two small arowana around 4" to 5" in the same tank.. one of the aros used to whack the other and always keep it at the bottom of the tank.. thats when i decided to move them to their own tanks.. and before i built my pond.. these aros had outgrown their tanks and the only other tank i had was a 120G.. by that time i had got one more aro and was almost the same size as these two.. i had 3 aro in the same 120G without a fight.. and they were easily 22" to 26" in size when i moved them.. the way i started was i put in some 50 goldfish(i don't recommend using feeders.. even once in a while.. but i wanted them to be dither fish and food) and moved the aros into the tank.. i used to keep them well fed always.. and to your question about having 3 aro.. might work.. just give it a shot.. or get 5.. you'll jus end up lucky like the rest of us.. cheers mate

I was thinking getting 5 but my pond is only gonna be 15x20 so I wasn't quit sure

how soon will your pond be done.. 15'X20' is pretty decent for 5 arowana.. I have 4 in a 10' X 7.5' X 4' along with my RTC, 4 oscars and 2 pacu.. say if you are going to get your pond done in about 3 to 4 months from today then i would suggest 5 or a couple more.. but if you are not serious about a pond or still unsure take some time and decide.. :)

But are you prepared to house 5 arowana separately if things don't work out?

It'll be done in December and like Brian said housing 5 arowana is a tough task if I have to house them separate
