Thanks for the ade but surley pellets will start to cost loads? I am thinking prawns, bloodworms and krill as mixed as a staple, is that ok?
Sorry for not replying earlier, pellets will surely cost less then krill, prawns, and bloodworms. You can get the RTC to eat floating pellets if sinking pellets are too expensive. My RTC is at 7 inches and is currently eating shrimp pellets, pieces of shrimp, and some fish I fillet when I come home from fishing. When he's older I will feed him floating pellets because those are cheaper and bigger then the shrimp pellets, some big fish fillets are nice to!

I dropped six prawns at night and in 15 they disappeared! lol I think my baby softie may have eaten one or two but not six! lol

make sure your not over feeding and monitoring the toxin levels in the small tank daily. STICK WITH PELLETS UNTIL YOU HAVE A LARGE 100+ WELL ACLIMIATED TANK AND BALANCED PH, pellets effect the water way less then krill and other high protien live or frozen foods.

Remember small water changes daily along with close monitoring of the tank toxin levels. RTC are not hardy at all and will develop gill curl in even minor toxin levels. Mine is 10+ inches in 8 weeks.

I've just noticed that about RTC so I'm upgrading my filtration system.

you should try regular red worms from a bait shop. My rtc has already eatin 12+ worms and i have only had him for 3 days but the pet store i got him was very good and feed him alot before me. Good Luck

Thanks, i will :) He is swimming more and eating more :) Welcome to MFK!

Saw him fees with my own eyes! He has started to eat like a pig! (3 cubes of blood worm!) :D

wow thats way to much and will cause you to actual worms in your aquarium. YOU CAN NOT FEED IT LIKE THAT IN YOUR TINY SET-UP. I mean are you thick or something, you set up a thread to get advice on feeding and then dismiss it. Your tank is very very very small for the fish you have, untill you upgrade stick with pellets for they effect your water the least. Are you using a worm feeder or defrosting them. All food produces acid and feeding 3 qubes in 1 sitting will drop it for sure

Doing water changes and toxin checks daily,im guessing not. This is why people shouldnt buy RTC because there "on sale" then hope to get a bigger set-up. Get the tank then the fish. This site either has dumb people rejecting advice or dumb people giving advice. Let me know how the "kiddy pool" works out or should I say when your looking for someone to adopt.....
