Some people do go to college with a plan but that does not mean the outside world will agree with it =] People change their minds too. It happens.
As for working a job to work it and make monkey instead of not finding a job you enjoy - I don't agree with it so much either.. I would rather enjoy what I do then make a lot of money. I can't say that my Dad agrees with this one, but both my parents understand that I will never work or last at a job that I hate and they support me and my ambition to do something that I love doing instead of worrying about money (most people I know that worry about money seem to be really stressed out and they have money and they don't even enjoy it all they do is complain about work and money). I don't want to live life always worrying about money and hating my job. I have worked jobs I love and jobs that I hate. The ones that I love I stay with as long as I can (I left the last one b/c I moved away). I work the jobs that I hate knowing that they are no my forever job, they are just there - for the moment, to pay my bills. View your current job as a way to get your family by until you find something better, its not your forever job and it doesn't have to be. Look for something you enjoy or something you can go in with a positive mindset and enjoy even if it was not your first choice. I choose my degree knowing I won't get paid a lot but I will enjoy the majority of my days at work. Every job will have a down side but you have to learn to enjoy it, make the best of it and have a positive mind set. Of course this still takes a job that you enjoy or can at least partially enjoy.
