So, I know someone is going to jump on here and be like "that's synspilum!" Can you just save the thread space and explain the classification update(s) and/or differences? I believe I read synspilum is actually no longer valid? Is that right?

Anyway, absolutely gorgeous fish and tank as usual. Excuse me, I've got to go rearrange my tank now. :(

Also, in the second video you posted, what is the bright yellow fish at around the 25 second mark? Salvini? Insane colors.

No problem, but i have already explained it in another thread, lol.

Just to be quick, the paper: Paraneetroplus synspilus is a Junior Synonym of Paraneetroplus melanurus (Teleostei: Cichlidae)
CALEB D. MCMAHAN, CHRISTOPHER M. MURRAY, AARON D. GEHEBER, CHRISTOPHER D. BOECKMAN & KYLE R. PILLER (USA)

Zootaxa 2833: 1–14 (27 Apr. 2011) Accepted: 9 Mar. 2011

And CRC species profile update: http://www.cichlidae.com/gallery/species.php?id=235

Anyone reading can find all the infomation there.

That is a pair of C. istlanum with fry. I'll post some photos later.

Oh, one thread is not enough around here. ;)

Please post some stuff of those istlanum, I would really enjoy it. How are you liking the melanurus personality wise? How would you compare them to other vieja/paratheraps?

BTW, I hope the looters stayed out of your fish room over there. :)

These melanurus are pretty laid back to be honest, however i've kept many other populations and this hasn't always been the case. As you know tank size will always play a massive part in any cichlids temperemant.

Lol, the looters aren't a problem, most of these sad underachieving yobs were mainly only after trainers (sneekers) traksuits and drugs from the chemists. The really mentally challenged were breaking into sweet shops. The funny thing is that these idiots have smashed there own towns up, they are in a mess now. Polictical correctness and a soft touch govermant who ruled us for 13 years has created this generation of selfishness that think the world owes them a living. You wouldn't believe how Great Britain has become, one of the most violent countries in Western Europe!! You've got me started now, lol.

Great looking fish!

Thanks, i'm very pleased with their development.

those fish are amazing, so much colour on them!
Sorry to sound like an idiot, but I checked the link and it said that Cichlasoma Synspilus was added in 2011, whereas the melanurus one was added 2010.
so does that mean it was changed again int cichlasoma synpilus, or that the melanurus has now been upgraded from "Varient of C. Synspilus" to an indipendant species?

Sorry if i sound stupid but as far as I knew they were still synspilum lol
