It was a real pain but it was my first so I know what I would do to make it work better next time. Still turned out alright. Sure helps with space if you're in a smaller 1 bedroom apartment like us.

Thanks. That would be awesome. This cost us about 100$ but it needs to be noted that a lot of that money was actually buying tools I don't own. Like a power drill, power sander, right angle. All from the pawn shop. I'm confident if I had to build another one I would be able to do even better. Again, for my first stand or for build on anything for that matter I think it turned out good.

Oh and insulation=awesome.

Plus, once we move, the stand will be painted black to match the tanks trim and backgrounds :)
I think it turned out really good and it is nice to have both of my tanks on just one stand!

Looks like a pretty beefy firemouth in the top tank? Or is a different thorichthys?

He's definitely a FM. He's got a back story too. I used to have a Jack Dempsey in my 125g that grew up with my Oscar. Eventually he started beating the tar out of my Oscar. I was recommended that maybe another cichlid would disperse aggression. So I got that Firemouth. JD Continued to shred O so I had to move him to his own separate tank. (which he recently went with when I sold it) Then my O tried to eat the FM. Had him face first half way down his mouth and I managed to spook the O with my net into releasing the FM. Then I let him grow out in the JD tank for a while and then moved him back to the O tank once he was too big to eat. He worked out fine in there but my stock in there is going to get too large for him so I let Hope take over with him in one of her tanks. One side of his mouth is a little "messed up" from the near death almost turned into lunch experience he had. Here's a good shot of him when I moved him out of my 125g and let Hope have him which was maybe a few weeks ago.

nice I was thinking of doing something similar it looks amazing :)

Thanks. If you've built something before I'm sure it will be easy for you. If you haven't, I would just make sure all the 2x4 you buy at Home Depot or Lowe's are straight and trust your measurements! Oh and 1/2" insulation works wonders on the flat surface the tank sits on.

thats a nice build there! I like having more than one tank on a stand.

Thanks. I think it condenses the tanks and makes a lot more room. :)

Nice. I have a similar funny story about my male firemouth. Got a group of 5 to act as dithers in a grow out tank... Didn't work out so well and lost all but one, who I had to nurse back to health in a hospital tank. Anyway, tried to reintroduce him in my 125 and he ended up behind my 3D background somehow. I fed him a little bit each day behind the background and would check on him from time to time with a flash light. Finally managed to net him months later and he's the nicest FM I've ever seen in person! Go figure. ;)
