Okay, real simple question. I buy the grocery store shrimp cocktail rings whenever they're on sale and just got two. Figured next ring I open up to eat I'd cut a piece or two up and give some to my Oscar, Pbass, and SD school.

I believe these grocery store shrimp rings are precooked and then frozen but I'm not sure. Is this correct? Would that be safe for the fish? I figured it would but I read a thread on here a while back about a guy killing his Arowana by feeding it cooked shrimp (which I assumed was actually cooked cooked) so I wanted to just be sure. Better safe than sorry right?

Safe for my fish pals?

i wouldnt feed anything cooked besides pellets ofcrse. i do feed raw shrimp, prawn & tilapia though. i use to buy it bags too but now i go to costco when they have it on sale and buy it by the pounds! much cheaper in the long run... my fishes can eat a bag of shrimp a day... theyre a bunch of fatas''es... lol just eat the shrimp yourself and have a nice cold beer to wash it down and enjoy it lol :D ahah

So am I correct in thinking the shrimp cocktail rings are precooked and then frozen? I'm not sure on this I'm just assuming. Doesn't say so on wrapper.

I don't know for sure. But i remember when i was buying shrimp, i'd always look for the package that said uncooked, AND i remember having a hard time making sure there wasn't any extra sodium or stuff like that in or on them.

dont worry about all that just get fresh & raw.

The rings of shrimp I'm familiar with ARE cooked, I think it's usually labeled 'cocktail shrimp' or something... I buy frozen raw shrimp for mine.. Not sure if you have HEB grocery in FL, but that's where I get mine..

Okay, got it. Nope, no idea what HEB grocery store is. I do know though while I was perusing the shrimp rings the other day there was a section in frozen of tilapia, jumbo shrimp, and all sorts of other fish, with the picture of the fish or shrimp on the outside of the large bag. Pretty sure that stuff is just raw frozen so I'll grab that next time I'm at the grocery store. Sorry fish, my shrimp cocktail, lol.

HEB is a Texas based store. Only us Texans got it. :D
