The Grotto
Well here is an update of my F1 rio Mag Umbee 5Star which is 6-6.5" and the female is 4.4-5". Please dont mind the tank size because its only temporary, i just sold him to a good friend on the East coast who will be taking really good care of them:) So far he is the best rio mag ive grown out and they are from my wild pair, the "General".. so now i have to say goodbye to this guy:cry: hopefully his new owner will get time to post updates from time to time.

wow really nice pearling on an umbee that size. mines 9-10 in and doesnt have near the amount of blue and is f1 also. just proves how much genetics play in umbees color more so than most fish species imo

Thank you very much for the nice comment i really appreciate it:) And you're 100% correct about the genetics. I totally lucked out with his parents. his dad is in my avatar for comparison. My pair threw some very nice fry... i havent seen an ugly one yet, so far they all look really similiar to this guy. if your interested i have plenty of F1 fry left at 3/4-1.5" and i can send those flat rate cheap:)

very very tempting maybe when i get my new tank set up and a tank opens up. i was thinking trying festae when my male i have now outgrows the 150 i have him in now but it would be cool to raise some umbees from babies. thanks. and its amazing how much genetics play a role in cichlids. my dovii pair isfrom mel o meras big male and are about 7 in and already are stunning fish and the male already has a decent hump. they just spawnded for the first time and have almost 400 fry and already great parents.

Well just let me know and have you posted a thread on your dovii? Mels pair is awesome:) congrats on your fry too.

Thank you, and I'm really impressed by the Generals kids, it was all the fish bro... I just fed and changed water;)
