it hover all around the tank or at only that right side of your tank ?

Probably the right three quarters. when resting sits bottom left underneath the powerhead.

Awesome to see your Brycons and Tiger at a large size.

My question though, is what happened to the Channa Diplogramma and the Hoplias Curupira. They still with you?

Thanks, for me it has really shown how large a tank an ATF needs. I would never keep one in anything smaller than an 8' now even then I think it's a little to small. They don't seem to see the ends of the tank. The noise when they hit it is scary, usually during feeding. There heads are strong, all bone I think.

Yes still got them, the Diplogramma is in with the lacerdae, the curupira is now in a 180 with a large Tat and waiting two Oligosarcus hepsetus that I am growing out at the moment. Should be an interesting tank when done.

nice characins!

Thanks Peewee.

Thought so, what size tank did you have them in?

In a 45 gal the one thats left is now in a 75 gal and I think its a melanopterus hes turning black on his lower stomach and his tail is getting black from the middle of his tail up.

I tried putting a clown knife tonight in with mine after seeing this tank setup.....Epic Fail

Yep I wouldn't try i with anything slow and not well built. The Brycon are real brusers, still get the occational tooth mark on them though.

WOW very nice tank, what is the difference between a Brycon & Dorado and where do you find them in the UK i never see them for sale

Dorado's, big predatory high power charicins, brycon are generally smaller less stream lined versions, usually not quite as aggresive but some can be. The two Brycon that closely resemble Dorado , Dentex and whitie are nice. pretty much all my stock comes from Wildwoods, Enfield. They can usually get interesting stuff and that is where my brycon have come from. I also have a small dorado growing up that I will add to that group.

Looks like a nice PBass setup you have.

thank you :), I may pop to wildwoods then, really fancy a dorado or brycon, i just dont want anything that will cause too much trouble with the cichla, do they colour up as nice as you see in pictures when in captivity or are they failry bland?

Depends on the species. some are quite dull. go for any of the brycon with red tails and you will be good, Dorado don't get there gold colouring until they are large so most of the captive pics are a good representation of the colour you will see. You can check Wildwoods stock through http://tropicalfishfinder.co.uk where they have a mail order link with all there stock. Your best bet is to have a look at what you want then speak to Keith the livestock manager and he will track down what you are after. Thats usually the way I do it.
