Bio Gold+ and large cichlids??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I thought that Bio Gold + made a difference, but now I'm not sure. I looked over the ingredients and I don't think that MSG (monosodium glutamate) as the 11th ingredient is very essential to fish nutrition. My fish seem colorful, grow fast enough and live for a long time with the varied diet of live, frozen and dry food mix along with frequent water changes that I give them.

The MSG is what makes the fish love the pellets. It enhances the flavor.

Hikari is like Chinese takeout.. while NLS is something out of Subway. Bad analogy but you get my point lol.

so can we talk about the benefits of NLS in comparrison? I have purchased the blue cichlid formula bottle,
I dont see anything out of the ordinary to make people like this so much?
im seeing:
protein: 34% min
fat: 5%min
fiber: 5% max
ash: 9% max
moisture: 8% max
Vit A: 8000 iu/kg Min
Vit D: 450 iu/kg Min
Vit E: 200 iu/kg Min

Ingredients used is another factor.

It is more in the ingredients than in the nutritional infos, but you can still see that there is a low fat and a low ash content.

On an other note, anyone observed differrence in growth rate between NLS lower protein formula (cichlid ...) and higher ones (cichlasoma, discus, thera...) ?

Well,I currently feed hikari with other supplemental treats but honestly after reading the ingredients id like to switch. I've always heard corn was hard for fish to digest and that's hikaris second ingredient. I just wish nls was more available at pet stores

Any high quality pellet will do such as hikari or NLS I prefer NLS but it all comes down to tank size, dominance, and most important genes... No food will bring out color if your fish does'nt have the genes for it....

agree with this statement 100%,if the color is not there to begin with not food will bring it out because it is not there.Genetics plays a major role in color.

i have and do use both, my young RTM is a little skittish and wont eat if i'm standing in front of the tank so i for him i dont like the sinking pellets, but my argentea wont eat from the surface and dosnt like sinking hikari so i constantly have both kinds on the go.
