i agree i seen that coming but i felt that there was no need to insult platies when they had nothing to do with this threadThese types of threads are usually just trouble lol. People get butthurt when someone says something negative about their favorite fish. It's going to happen eventually

Look don't take it personally. It was just odd how that guy came to the cichlid section specifically to say they sucked. Seems like a really a-hole thing to do. But me personally find most of your average community fish boring especially compared to cichlids. I never said they weren't great fish their just no all that interesting too watch. We are not all going to have the same taste in fish that's just how it is.
I would think the majority of us would be mature enough to accept the fact that we all don't have to like the same fish. I know for me I love african cichlids yet I know a lot of people on here don't. I am not going to cry every time someone says they don't like africans. It's just their taste. Their crazy/messed up taste

Good to see someone else that likes africans on here. I love them but I wanted to keep cichlid pairs so CA/SA cichlids I have for now. I will defiantly dive back into africans when I get my own place. I am probably one of few who likes new and old world cichlids.
I wanted to stay out of it but I guess it was inevitable. For the record NOT a fan of BP or flowerhorns either. Or anything that fish that is bred to be deformed to look "pretty"

Well, if we are including Africans, then i retract my Jag vote (I figured this was just CA/SA). I had an African cichlid tank years ago and have never considered another one. They just don't have the personality that the new worlds do and I'm not into starting a tank focused just on color.
I love Oscars, but knew they would be a popular choice. They are seriously messy, but I'm going to "over"-filter and water change anyways.
I am surprised to see people saying Convict (no, I'm not upset by it). I am curious why though. Smaller, hardy, take care of themselves, easy to breed (I could see people getting bothered by that in some cases I suppose). I also think they look pretty cool. Have people had bad experiences, or is it something else? Honestly just asking, not looking to argue about it.
