UMBEEKINGS BEANI "BENZINO"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thank you all, I am very lucky to have this guy, I would like to thank my good friend Volcomstone for making this happen. NWatson, this guy at first was just a pet, very shy and would not come out of his cave to greet me but now he is very confident in his tank and approaches the front of the tank flaring his gills and spreading his fins at me. Slapping the front of the tank with his caudual fins sometimes. So I would say a Wetpet. So much so I had to give him a name. Benzino the Beani..:)
The pleasure is all mine Brotha! I knew the Beani would reach its full potential and more under your care. It's obvious in the video and seeing him in person that he truly is one of a kind  Now get him a girlfriend !

I understand about the mice thing, I wasn't offended. :) As for Beani, it is a wonderful and beautiful Cichlid to keep don't let the bloat thing scare you. If you keep the tank highly oxygenated with good filtration and most importantly minimize the stress in the aquarium, you should have no problems with your Beani bloating. What I mean by minimizing the stress in the aquarium is by either keeping the fish alone, in pairs or where it is the top fish in the tank. I find Beani to be very stress prone and this can trigger them to bloat. Some say to keep them on a high veggie diet but my guy eats both veggie and protein rich foods and has never bloated. It is most definitely not a beginner Cichlid and the fish keeper must have the know how to treat his or her fish if bloat was to occur. So once again I can understand why you would be hesitant on getting one but to me they are worth the challenge.:)

very nice beani bro, my beani pair is devouring anything I feed them so i'm not sure about the bloat just like your male. hopefully mine grows to be that nice, but they are only 5''s at the moment

Beautiful fish. He makes my 11" male Panuco like like a feeder fish! Which strain is he? My advice if you are going to buy one is to get them at a bigger size. I consider myself an advanced hobbyist and I can not keep juvie Beani alive no matter what I do. However you can treat bloat fairly easily in 5" plus fish. My big guy has never had bloat but he does periodically get a disease where his lips get distended and swollen. Luckily for me I have a cure for that. My big beani is very oscar like in his behavior.

He is a Panuco strain and yes the female will be around the 7inch mark. He is currently 11 inches. Thank you
