Vitattus or Armatus??

if you really have to choose one decide which is more pleasing to your eyes after staring at them for an hour haha
yeah.... I'm mean they're like croc teeth! But the fangs are really something else!
Having had both I'm leaning towards Armatus. The ATF is definitely great but they're too skittish and finicky. They don't like change. If you can start them in the tank they will be growing in that's great. But if you have to transfer them they get spooked and go on a hunger strike. The payara is sensitive to diseases and don't like temperature fluctuations. I've had one get ick but he pulled through. The ATF can tolerate big temp swings and show now distress at all.
Both have good and bad but IMO Armatus is a better eater and easier to keep.

Hmmm. Both have nasty grill, both are fast skiddish schoolin fishes . But for more action go with the vatf the chomper on them is not as revealing as the gatf. My 2 most favorite times when I had my gatf he nip the gold fish just in the right spot so fast it was paralyze twitching in circle then came back to finish him off. The other time it hit the gold so hard that the gold scales went every direction. It look like the gold fish exploded. ATF chew their prays armatus just swallow their prays.
Lmao, Even a beginner aquarist knows that fish don't get as large in captivity and they do in the wild. Fail.
So I guess a 24'' Armatus is still fit for a 300gal? Even a novice fish keeper would keep quiet when giving out horrible information/advice in keeping fish they have never kept before...yes? I also guess you have never seen a 24'' Armatus before I take it? Yet you still recommend a 300gal for one. Funny I guess.
