the luckiest goldfish ever
...until I throw a giant snakehead in there.

Just kidding.

wait a minute, as I looked at the room you tank is located in, how in God's name did you get that tank in through that door way? Or, are there double doors on the opposite ends of the building?
That's what had me worried if I ever have to try to sell this tank...it won't fit through most doors. I've seen huge tanks sit for sale at pretty good prices for a long time. I saw a 600G pentagon tank (this thing was awesome) on craigslist for about 2 years. Initial asking price was pretty high at around $6,000 and the last I saw it was down to $900 a year later!...I think the main issue was that no one could fit it through their doorway. Anyways, to answer your question, there was initially a wall in the middle of the fish room (the guy had a finished office on the left side and an unfinished workshop on the right). The door to the office side is a standard 30", but the workshop side has double doors (48" opening).
Here's the pic of the 600G that I was not able to buy at the time because I was living in a little apartment (not me in the pic...that was the dude selling it). How cool would a giant gourami look in there!
Sweet! Some shubunkins would look great in there too. We have two in our koi pond. Had them for several years now, and I'd say they're between 8-10"
I've thought about adding a few...I think I'm going to wait a few weeks to add anymore fish to let the bio really get established. I've never been a big fan of Shubunkins...there's something about the black markings that make them look like they are covered in dirt. I prefer solid or two tone colors versus calico, but it might be a nice addition to mix things up.
What did you paint the floor of your fish tank room with? Is that epoxy paint? It looks great! Very quiet filtration. Looking/Sounding good!
Two coats of Rustoleum Epoxy Shield and one thick application of their clear coat. I spent over 20 hours prepping the concrete, so I'm glad someone noticed. So far the epoxy is holding up really well. There's no way I would spend the time prepping the garage floor for this stuff...since the fish room is nice and finished I wanted the floors to look half decent so I went for it. I only wish I hadn't used the speckles...they hide imperfections in the floor, but it gives it a little bit of a cheesy/fake granite look.
In regards to the noise, the mic on my little digitial camera doesn't really pick it up, but the pump has a pretty loud hum to it. I had heard people say that the Hammerhead Gold was silent, but this pump is nowhere near that. I'm still happy with it though, considering the amount of water it pushes and the low watts it draws. Skinning the stand will definitely dampen the hum, as will getting some throw rugs in the room.
