There really isn't a best type of arowana to keep with gars, but an African arowana might work provided that its slightly larger than the gar (well, that and if you can find one). All of the other arowanas generally make very poor tankmates for gars because of their coloration, temperament, behavior, and other factors.

If you choose to get an African arowana, be prepared to upgrade to at least a 240 gallon aquarium sooner rather than later in order to accommodate for its adult size.

arowana are very fierce so, as said by xander,they might scare the FLG and the Flg might have a broken back

No, gars and cichlids do not mix. If gar gets too big it will kill cichlid, if cichlid gets too territorial it will stress out gar and risk breaking back.

i have mine with 3 polys, 1 ornate, 1 palmas , 1 endlicheri and i also have an indo dat. no problems what so ever and its one of the best stock lists for a flg

i just want a list of fish taht can be housed with a 10 in florida gar...not somthing that just sits on the bottom like bichirs...maybe a catfish or colorful exotic monster
