who said aro could not have tank mates????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Like I said, you're not being realistic. You live off pictures from internet. Look at his video... The sharks were probably 2ft, in a 6ft x 4ft footprint tank. I didn't see a shark as big as your posted picture in a 6ft x 4ft tank

You live off of bad info: The OP himself said the tank is 6' x 30" x 24" (only 220 gallons).

You are right that the "appropriate size aquarium" is subjective. Some people on this site enjoy watching their fish swim, versus bumping into glass and other fish. I'm on the side that thinks more room is better. Where do you draw the line? If the fish can't even turn around in a tank, is it still cool? Why not just have it taxidermed, mount it on the wall and you won't have to worry about water changes or feeding it...it's not able to move much in a tiny tank anwways, right?

Calling all experts: How are fish that grow to over 4' long going to live in an aquarium that is only 30" wide?

I'm suck with number, but does it make any different between a 2ft fish in a 30" wide or 4ft wide? Some people too lazy with feeding and doing water change, thus they mounted the fish on the wall, while other still enjoying the feeding and doing water change. There's nothing to do with the fish in fishkeeping. It's solely about someone's interested, just like someone likes to get a giant tank to keep gold fish. What's wrong with that? Did you see a 4ft fish in a 30" wide tank? I haven't!

You guy's are a mean group. I will make sure not to post my 3ft silver arrowana in my 120 gallon....
Seriously though, maybe the comment about housing arrow's in a community was geared towards the Jar arow, and there was a miscommunication there.

You will never see a 4' fish that lives in a 30" wide aquarium because the fish will be stunted (unhealthy) or die before it even has a chance to reach it's full size. That's what happens when you try to keep creatures that grow to enormous sizes in a tiny environment.

I'm curious, where do you draw the line? Is there a minimum tank size to keep specific species, or does the fish just have to suffer in whatever size tank you happen to have?

Still not buying the numbers your claiming with filtration, but really, who cares.

BTW... you've seem to be bragging about your aro's growth in a couple posts. Well the growth you've seen is just basically average growth for a silver arowana.

guys just leave him alone he is having fun in this hobby he has reached far he did alot of hard work. he lives in the Philippines and most people there are not that rich and he has made enough money for this hobby, me myself live here in hawaii and i cant even afford a 200 gal. he has made these fish grow and live, he probably worked really hard to get his money for a tank like this, fish like this. and alot of time growing these beautiful monsters. with his title im sure he was just to excited/glad to talk about his fish and how far he went. like jlnguyen74 its his fish, its his tank he does whatever he likes, i agree with that, but look how much his fish has grown! and how how beautiful they are! ok i know im trying to back him up you guys might bag on me....... but lets get mad at the people who kills fishes!!!!!!! Well if people are going to post on a open forum there may be those who have differing opinions. You believe people should keep their opinions to themselves unless it is in support of the OP?

hey fish people, my apology if ever i had offended anyone here... but be realistic.... killing fish for a purpose is different from keeping fish and neglecting them. neglect is worse..... if every one here is for the welfare of their fish... then you are all just like others and those bunch of hypocrite.... those fish are supposed to be in the wild... not in your tank.....

we all live because we eat what somebody else have raised food for us.... what is the difference between the fish fillet in the supermart than those fish fillet from my tilapia in my tank????

i am not bragging my fish... i just want to share my experience.... for the past 3 years, my oscar pair normally spawned and have wigglers... however, i am not prepare to keep and raised them thus, i allow my juve tilapia to control the population.

if sharing an idea different from yours is bad, i am sorry... maybe i am in the wrong forum...
