Haha go drive a tractor... Seriously if the kid wants to get an semi-expenisive car don't be hatin'. Its his (really his parents) money so if its ok with his parents its fine. Just remeber to be safe and don't go to crazy. You know what would be really BA... a Ford Raptor bet no one in Beverly hills has that!

P.S. not everyone totals there first car if your smart and responisible :p

if your still in control you arent going fast enough :P lol j/k
seriously, someone who has crashed knows his limits ,, i'd feel much safer with that type of person
him being a guy looking for a b.a car (most of us are like that :D ), i think the probability of a crash is quite high

So mom and dad are buying the car but not paying for the insurance or maintenance?

my first pick would be a m series bmw you can get them reasonably price if you look around buddy grabbed a 2004 m3 for 9000$ at a auction nothing wrong with it.

Whats with dissing audi if a A4 is to slow for ya even with the 3.2l 6speed. then look at audi S4 with the v8

eh, the m is too fast and the a4 is too unreliable, my sister's bestfriend had one and it was in the shop more than in her driveway
i love the s4, but no v8 for me

Good question! Your in cali, ur insurance is high to begin with. Brand new cars or even a year or two old have high insurance esp for a kid ur age. Have you checked on that? Be prepared for sticker shock. I had friends who payed more a month for insurance then car payment.

Heh, since I was married I paid less for two cars then thier one

Hey I thought of something else.. What about a Maserati? You might end up with a little older car (2005 or 06) and maybe a little higher miles on it, but its a Maserati! I was looking at some of the 2005 models and they were so advanced they look like what most 08-09's looked like. You obviously would have to search harder to find one, but who do you know that has one?! Check this one out! I forget what ur budget was and you would have to find one in ur area but just as a example: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=305514858&dealer_id=66338179&car_year=2006&systime=&doors=&model=&search_lang=en&start_year=2002&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&search_type=both&distance=0&min_price=&rdm=1317602844408&drive=&marketZipError=false&advanced=&fuel=&keywords_display=&lastBeginningStartYear=1981&end_year=2012&showZipError=y&make2=&certified=&engine=&dma=PITTSBURGH_NO&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&body_code=0&isFlashPlugin=true&transmission=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&color=&address=16046&sort_type=priceDESC&max_price=30000&make=MAS&seller_type=b&num_records=25&cardist=1658&standard=false

clk500 or 550 if you want to be different and quick although they only come in automatic, which is I didn't go through on getting one.
Seriously though you won't know if you like anything until you drive them. I've driven a handful of luxury high end cars and while I initially thought they were gorgeous and what I wanted was disappointed by quite a few.
Research and others opinions only go so far.
I will tell you that a s2000 is a very surprising car if you get to drive one. Looks are deceiving with those and not a lot of people have them.

Now I am going to contradict all of what I said, but I don't think it is a wise idea to be young and have something speedy. You may very well be the exception but often inexperience makes younger drivers push cars past their limits. Just get something with four wheels underneath you, the feeling of freedom usually makes it one of the most fun vehicles you will ever own, even if it is a beater. I still miss my first car.

my older cousin has the 500, it's a sickass car, but i would be killed on gas.. i've heard the s2000 is one of the best drivers cars ever, but it's not enough to overcome its looks :p.
I understand what you mean with the inexperience and me being young, but i've moved from a 97 pathfinder with over 150k to an 03 pathfinder to an 06 lexus gx470.. if i was gonna move down, i'd just stick to driving my moms car
VW Gulf GTI .. Quick and cheap, plenty of room for amps and speakers..Drive it like you stole it cuz there super reliable too..

not a fan of volks. :/
