Datnoid Island
One of my mother in laws relatives has recently passed away but she was not able to travel to the island to attend the funeral so another relative used her cell phone to to take a picture of the uncle's body as it lay in the casket and sent the image to my mother in law's phone.Maybe I'm old fashioned but this seems like a pretty morbid thing to do,almost like a sick prank or something.Thoughts?......

It's...a little weird. But every person would probably feel differently about it. I'd not have done it, but if I received the photo I might actually appreciate it in time.

eh, i think that's poor taste. it'd be different if you brought something back from the funeral for her but taking a pic of the open casket? i wouldn't want people sending pics of dead me to anyone

How did your mother-in-law feel about it? Some people may appreciate the closure of seeing their loved on laid to rest. Other people might be creeped out by it.

She was already upset over not being able to attend and seeing the image made her feel worse....I think if someone decides to send me a shot of one of my relatives in a coffin there will be problems.

As far as I know she did not but I have heard that people are taking photos of the deceased at viewings pretty often these days...I won't be doing it.

One of my distant relatives did that at my grandma's funeral a few years back, not sure why they took the photo, but they did and i have to say i was a little creeped out by the whole ordeal...

Yeppp^^^

I would be creeped out too fat homer.

I don't see what the big deal is, but with that said, I wouldn't have done that unless they asked for it. If you're upset you didn't get to see the dead body, why would you be upset that you did...albeit in a much different manner. That's just me, though.
