best way to aclimate a stingray?

It depends on the duration of travel.your picking it up locally correct?

Theirs no need for squirt and dump or drip.if it's from your city and healthy eating already I'n your water i would say the ray is already acclimated.just make sure the temp is close to the same.

Squirt and dump is best for rays that had long flights over 24 hours when the water is real bad.

I don't think you would be ordering I'n a motoro so i don't think you should do a squirt and dump method.

Correct on trip duration. I shoulda said that. But as far as temp. Goes, if it is a long flight then don't worry bout temp. The reason is bc it can take a ray up to a week or two to adjust to temp.

I wouldn't bank on that.i know for sure certian more fragile species of rays would probably die from a shock like that! I'm sure his ray is not taking a flight from anywhere it would not make sense to order a $100 ray and pay $250 for shipping???

It sounds more like he is picking it up from a local source. I don't think he has anything to worry about

Well i know its wild caught. But i know it hasent been baged for over 24 hours. Ill check to make sure. But even if i do the squirt, drip, and air stone......it wont harm it?

I really just want to acclimate it in a 5 gal bucket. The ray is said to be about 6" across. The bucket is about 11.5" across. Will this be enough room while its aclimating.

How do i know its aclimated and safe to dump it in?

If it's coming ap to ap or over I say 8hrs in a bag, then I would def. Do a squirt and dump... No airstone. Get amquel, and open the bag then squirt some amquel in. Then drain most of the water, then easily dump the ray into the tank...

the drip method is a waste of time if the ray has been in the box for hours you dont want to leave it in the box for another few hours when you drip

the best way is to dump 1-2 pans of water in the box wait 10 mins then take the ray out of the box and into the tank as you dont want to dump the box water in your tank

never had a problem doing it like this
