My Rare Bichir Collection with Photos

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hola again amigo!
Let me finish up with flood around my area (Bangkok Mega Flood).
I will post my updated all 3 Bichirs. PBB is totally different from picture.
And so PEC is ivory white now. Both photos took 3 months ago, too old now.
Next week, PBL should arrive to me. It is 15cm in lenght.
By the way, I am a fish importer in Bangkok, Thailand. I collect just few
fish for my collection. I import from so many countries like Congo, Nigeria,
Peru, Brazil, and Colombia. Talk to you later!

Hi.
The there is no PBB in your photos.
This isn't down to colors and pattern alone, there is also head shape/length, jaw shape and finlet count to throw in there.

And yes, lovely looking Lapradei! Have seen a few Albino and Platinum Laps here in Japan, and they look stunning when they grow!

The only problem I see when mass producing albino or plat is that most will end up with deformation. The 2 albino lap I saw in Indonesia have messed up finlets and the pectoral fins have thinner on the left and normal or wider on the right side.

wow there are nice albino lap

some are deformation some are not, mostly gars are deformation.
i saw deformation gar, it because of the seller put in bright tank and another case are when the gars grow bigger the spotted are showed.
but not bichir, i saw platinum ornatipinis, senegal, endly and lapradei are not deformation, but i dont know the other case..

sorry,poor english

I have seen some stunning farmed morphs, but I have seen many many more very messed up ones!
The majority of which have been from Indonesia.

Well I only seen 2 of albino lapradei in Indonesia so I cannot tell for sure that many will get deformed. However but seeing many of the mass produced, especially albino and leusistic as the genetic itself is very poor and chances of deformation is very high unless the fish are not siblings.

some said it because of to many order from overseas and tight duration to collect from breeders, so there is no time to sorting the real Platinum or Albino.

i agree, albino and leusistic mass producing is very poor..
and i hope there are no more leusistic mass producing..

Mass producing is great for genetic variants, however it requires patience and commitment to quality assurance on the part of the farm.

If there is a rush, and they are inbreeding to get higher yield of a genetic variant, this will cause higher percentage of deformities.

With out crossing to specimens with desired fin shape and body structure, you can produce some really stunning fish.
