Just want to make sure everything is OK

oscars can be a bit sulky even at the best of times, iv known a few lay on the bottom of the tank looking in the opposite direction, im sure your little guy is fine but just keep an eye on your water paremeters as really there should be some sign of nitrate if your tank has cycled but it could just be that you have a little fish in a big tank

no you dont need anything to your water just keep an eye on it. couple of questions 1...how did you cycle your tank? and is it just the oscar in the tank?

ok did the test today and the ph is 7.4, Ammonia is 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 0.

But my oscar is still acting weird.

So your readings changed in the past 3 hours? Interesting.

You also can't possibly have a reading of 0 ppm nitrate if your other two readings are both 0 ppm.

you could if its fresh out the tap thats why i keep trying to find out how he cycled his tank
i have a feeling something isnt quite right

I did the test last night around 830. Then I just did the test again. and its showing that.

I was told by a guy that worked at an aquar center that the only thing that i needed to do to cycle was to have the filter running for a week then i would be good to go.

no you are just at the start of your cycle i am guessing. Buy some stability and keep prime or some other like product near by for spikes. Water changes will be your oscars friend. You wanna see some nitrates before u add your fish to start off a new tank. Seven days isnt long enough to start a tank from scartch with no products. Some fish stores dont care and just wanna sell fish.

shhit, can i add nitrate drop to the tank then?

ok here goes. so the people that sold me the test kit told me to only add one drop of eash to the water tube for testing. In further of reading i am suppost to add a certain amount of drops to the tubes. I did this and the ph is 7.4 still, the ammonia is 0, the nitrite is 5 and the nitrate is still 0.

Is this bad?

If I were you I would go get some quality goldfish to help cycle your water...
