Datnoid's stability mystery

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
by changing water you have slight changes in PH which = stress right

more things show us that stable means stressed or like i said it would mean about 80% of us are not taking care of them right or why would so many be unstable

its people who know how to take care of fish that have unstable IT not new fish keepers
I love how you always try to prove bs theories that you make up with more nonsense. That last sentence should go into a book of your quotes

I notice when I do a partial water change and vacuum the gravel my group of indos and thinbars all either go pale or very dark while the suction tube is disturbing the tank as I move it around..Hmm,I guess I am to assume that they enjoy this process since they are unstable at that time....Then,after the tank is filled with replacement water and things settle down all of them seem to boldly display their striping on their light background,at this point they must really be pissed off lol.

Thats what I am thinking as well. There are some very very happy IT's in a lfs tank that has zero cover and they are happily trying to hide under each other in the corner of this tank. I have a single unhappy in a 135 with hiding places where he is the dominate fish housed with slow un-aggressive fish.??????? I can not believe that these IT's that are unstable in the LFS tank are happy. I just cant.

Exactly. It's just something that we can't prove and nobody knows. T1 just likes to believe that if your fish aren't like his you're doing a craP job of taking care of them because his methods and ideas are what we should follow

Okay, non new fishkeeper.Since my post obviously wasn't clear enough for you, explain the tank full of mottled and faded out and unstable,or whatever you want to call them, dats in the fish store. Are they content,or are they enjoying themselves packed into this small tank with nowhere to take refuge?....You yourself has stated that these are solitary fish in the wild so by your logic, and the way that they look, they are pleased as punch to be kept in an unnatural condition.

I would like to see the data that supports that 80% of IT keepers have unstable dats as TK1 claims. Just a evening stroll through the dat media lounge seems to support there are more stable than unstable. As well as examples of this "more proof" that supports his claim other than just mentioning the existence of other proof.

I wouldn't say that there are more stable than unstable. People just enjoy the stable ones and put up pictures of those. I have 6 dats and one is always stable while the other 5 are not. I guess my 100 pct stable dat has a depression problem. Think i need to go find him a shrink if I follow T1's advice

Good point about the pictures, just personally for me I have never had too much of an issue with stability. I have kept around 7 throughout the years I have always kept them singly and I usually had a stable coloration, I just figured it to be submissive pattern when they would go dark. To be honest I never even heard of stable unstable until I joined this site a few months ago. It has to be something deeper than if they are stressed or unstressed because I do believe there are plenty of people on here that know what they are doing.

i have as much chance of being right about unstable being happy as you have about stable being happy

All I have been asking for is some of this proof. You may have more, I dont know. Just explain to me how IT's are unstable in LFS stock tanks. This seems to be, to me, the biggest hurdle. Once again this is based on the view that "ubstable" pattern directly means "stressed" and "stable" pattern means "happy" or vice versa, which still I have seen no concrete evidence this is the case , if there is some I would love to see it. Like I stated I have only kept 7 through my years and am in no way a Dat expert, however I am not new to keeping fish at all. Could it be a possibility that the pattern changes could be related to something else, and have nothing to do with the "happiness" of the fish. I am not here at all for a fishkeeping peeing contest, I legitimately am asking for proof and not what seems to be conjecture.

my large 16inch IT is always unstable so must be happy the last 2 days my large ngt 15inch has been chasing the it and beating it up the it is now fully stable strange that dont you think pics and video later of it getting chased and fully stable
