Wild Location X Umbee Male: "Xtreme"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nothing personal, I just can't understand going to all the trouble of collecting these wild caught umbee and then crossing them with other locations. Wasn't the goal to "get these into the hobby?" At best you're creating a line bred designer aquarium strain on par with colored varieties of oscars and severums, at worst your potentially creating hybrids of these rare fish (in the hobby).

That's not the point. The point is, trying to find a female for location x has been almost impossible as Chris only brought back a handful which ended male concentrated. And there's only 3 male and 2 female location z's. I have 2 X males and 1 Z female, so I'm making due and would rather have a pair versus a solo male. Once Chris goes back and collects more, then ill get my own group and keep them location specific.

And these aren't a different breed of umbees like the blues vs. Panama greens. These are all blues just from different locations and they bring a lil something extra to the breeding table that the other doesn't. So technically its not a hybrid. Just like the dovii in the hobby now are being paired with different locations to pull individual genetics from each other.

You had the General. Now you got xtreme. Maybe he should be called Mr. President! lol He is a stunner!!!! Crazy blues on him.

Lol:) thanks Danny, I still have monster X too, but not for long as he is going back to the Godfather real soon;)

VERY nice. I've said it before but I've never been into umbees till I became 'step dad' to Lopaka's umbee. They are soooo much nicer than any other umbee I've seen. The male I have is perfect and seems to get more perfect almost daily. Interestingly we thought it was a female at first till he started bulking up. Sexing umbee is no easy task.

Yeah tell me about it, I've been trying to find a female x all year lol.

Wow! Already a stunner. I look forward to seeing him with more size in the future.

Thank you very much:) I can't wait till he's beasting too;)
