If you get a grammodes i would suggest ordering them from rapps as me along with a few others who have ordered them from dan believe he has a poor bloodline that doesnt carry the reds and blues you want out of them...

Man...you should really understand a lot more before you come on here saying things that you (or your esteemed ichthyological circle of friends) understand. There are different variants of grammodes and it would be virtually impossible to know a thing about a bloodline based on the 10-12 fish you guys/gals have had.

Its just hard for you to not comment on everything, isnt it?

What size tank you keep that pair in...4' big enough or needs to be 6.

Id say at least a 5 ft. I had my pair (10"m/7"f) in a 7ft and they were fine but when moved to a 4ft, the male killed the female.

I sold that pair but the guy whos owns them is keeping them in a 5' 120g. if it were me id go with that or a 6', 125g.

^^^ This is good advice.

What's their personality like? I've read they're very owner responsive and fun to keep... but other people say they're shy.

eh, they are no midas or dovii. Ive had about 5 different adult ones and tons of fry & growouts and Id say they arent too responsive. If you kept one as a wet pet with no hiding spots it might be different, but mine were always in a large planted/driftwood & rock covered tank and hid or at the very least were skittish as hell most of the time and they were the heads of the tank. Tankmates were a con, an hrp, a neet, a pictus and 4 large clown loaches.

Damn that's a stunning male, one of the best I've seen! and the female in the background seems really nice as well. What would you say is their average monthly growth rate? 1 inch?

And that doesn't sound good... I just hope they don't end up being as skittish as my Salvini :irked: I basically have to approach the tank in slow motion to keep them from darting around like crazy and hurting themselves.

Thanks. They were fry from the fish Joe brought in.

Someone on here bought the male at the ACA meeting this summer in DC and just got him to spawn with another female. I think his member name here is kosta. If you look in my threads, I had them for sale and posted some videos of them in the tank.

They werent as bad as your sal's sound and would hang out sometimes, but I could just tell they were always on the verge of hiding. Cautious i guess would be a good description. Just not like a midas or oscar...carefree and not worried about much.

Have any of you guys ordered from cichlidsoftheamericas.com?

Dan had both the.red and the green. The reds are from my wild pairs bloodline, which were caught by Joe. Very nice bloodline. I would suggest buying from Dan and cichlidconnection that way you can get unrelated bloodline.
