The BEST Soups on Earth

i always leap for joy when my dad says we're going to to a veitmenese restuarant! PHO is the only thing I ordered for my whole life. NOTHING ELSE EVER!

i need some recipes................please please......

i'm sure you can google it. home made pho is excellent. the main ingredient is the broth. get that right and your pho will taste great. boil a pot of water, add bones with meat on it (beef, and not sure which parts exactly), add beef balls from your local asian market, chopped onions, salt and black pepper.

then get your rice noodle, tripe, thin slices of beef, tendon, shrimp, bacon (yes bacon, cooked to a crisp and crushed into pieces), green onion, cilantro, lime, bean sprout, mint leaves, oyster sauce, hoisen sauce, sriracha hot sauce, fish sauce, crushed peanuts are generally what people put in pho

you forgot turtle soup.

never had turtle soup before. i was never interested in turtle, snake and frog for some reason

i had some in new orleans, (turtle soup) taste like tomato soup with clams. without the clam taste.

wantokeeptrout, your walleye chowder sounds delicious. i don't like miso soup though. i used to work at a fast food japanese teriyaki place and the miso soup was popular but i thought it didn't even taste good. to each his own i guess

sorry, the chowder family secret recipe. I don't even know the spices.

As for miso, it's good but i only like it in small amounts. any more then the usual appetizer bowl begins to make me queasy but in small amounts well made miso soup is tough to beat

where did you go for your pho? and you quoted me before i edited. go beef next time. if there's a next time

I don't remember the name of the place, it was somewhere in Fullerton I think, not sure if there will be a next time, beef may be better though, you also mentioned bacon, that could be good. My gf is trying to get me to the mongolian bbq spot, so I think that's what will be next.

Flame me if you must but Friendly's has the best New England style clam chowder I've ever eaten..I love won ton soup but have only had it at inner city neighborhood take outs.I have had turtle soup(snapper)but that was years ago and all I remember about it was that it was a little minty.

why would you get flamed?

i order a bowl of clam chowder whenever i try a new restaurant just to see how they are. i had an excellent serving at a place in San Diego one time. it was served in a loaf of gutted out bread

Wor Won Ton soup! Now you're talkin!! Now that I think about it, I think it IS my favorite!!

My favs are:

1. Trieu Chau Noodles. Can only get these when I visit California. Lived in the OC and ate this my whole life and then was forced to move to Las Vegas.

2. Pho. Favorite place in California is Pho Thanh Lich. In Las Vegas, I eat at Pho Kim Long. They have two giant monster salt tanks in there.

3. Asam Laksa. It is a malaysian noodle soup, a bit sour but delicious!
