thank you db..my thoughts as well.i breed bd's and bd/leos (bd dad,leo mom)and see ALOT of vendors passing their stuff as bd's when in fact they are most likely bd/leo's. bd's is a grade of leopoldi from a specific collection point.bottom line is ask for pics of parents and judge for yourself. if you are happy, then buy it!!!i wouldnt personally trust anything coming from overseas as pure bred because 90% of the time the rays have passed through 3 diffrent whosalers and they all change the names to get more $$ for the ray.

Hi Ray'Oconner, you have a lot of BDs photo. Can you please post some more here? How you know they have belly spottings.

Belly Spottings can be seen once the pup its 8-10" whether its full..

If you want to go to all the trouble to "help" people understand "BDs" and all the BS associated with them then you need to post links to all the threads that predate this thread, go back several years and introduce everyone to the OPINIONS that started it all.

See I read this as you know all this to be fact when in reality BD is nothing more then a collection point. That's it. There is no criteria. There is nothing but opinion and unfound fact.

There's hybrids out there that are NOT from Sao Felix that posses all the here say signs that only the "true BD" should have.

Wanna know how to tell? Get a reliable trustworthy source to get the rays from firsthand and you're done.

IF you're a future BD owner that's willing to drop $2-4K on a ray without doing a lil homework then I'd be looking at the real source of the problem, cause it has nothing to do with rays or hobbies.

Just like art it doesn't friggin matter if 2/3 MFKers say it's "BD". ALL that matters is the ray is worth the asking price to you the buyer.

Half the reason true hobbyists leave this sight is the simple fact that there's so much avoidable drama here it isn't even funny. Threads like this are a perfect example. If one "expert" says a "BD" isn't a BD then someone got ripped off and the person selling the ray is a thief.

Den again.. Based on wat u said.. If BD dad and Leo mum.. BD Genes will be stronger..
But the difference can be told..

There will be a significant difference if u used a Leo Dad BD mum..

U need to know that the genes of male rays are always stronger den female when breeding..

He doesn't need to know anything, he breeds these things. He doesn't own a pair hoping to produce pups some day he has them breeeding like clockwork. I'm sure just like most of us here, he has done extensive homework, and probobly needs to be giving the pointers rather then recieving them. Afterall he is breeding them. Are you?The problem with running around telling everyone about breeding and which genes are stronger is it's all heresay without a relaible source. Like I said before there's many unanswered questions about BD and without basing all these assumptions on fact then it's just gonna be more confusing to the people you're trying to help.

U have good point there.. but u also seem too sure that it's based on assumptions..
Here which u are too overly confident my friend.. we are giving pointers to new guys who wanna own them..
It seems like u do have extensive homework done.. But not about breeding..
We talking about running an honest dealing here.. Not half hybrids to be sold as the real deal..
So I would have to say that the only real reputable breeder here is Mark Huveneer..
No other reputable one that i heard or know of..

Maybe u can get a few pointers about the genes.. And get some asnwers for urself bro..

First my understanding is that a gene has a 1 in 4 (Mendelian Inheritance) chance of expressing itself so how is it that the father's characteristics will be stronger than the mother. Someone please point me to the legitimate article that states this and not second hand knowledge from a vendor/seller trying to move his poduct.
Also I have read where people of have what is considered a perfectly spotted BD and NOT have the so called belly spotting that is supposed to signify a trait of so called BDs.
And secondly I would buy from diggin and take his advice any day since he seems to be breeding BD and P14s at will and can/will provide pics of parents. Vamptrev also.
