A Thread To Help ID Black Diamonds (P13)

I can understand the concept of clarifying what traits are required for a ray to be considered to be a BD to help people new to ray keeping. After all, it wasn't that long ago that some ray breeders and wholesalers were promoting BD-Leo crosses and leading some newcomers into believing that if they mated a pair of BD-Leo cross rays together they would produce some "pure BD" offspring. There was more than one person that paid a fairly high price for an average pair of rays.

I agree with DB that if a person is going to spend that kind of money on rays, they would have or should have done their research. Seeing the parents is the best way of knowing for sure you are getting what you paid for. Some Leo / Hen rays can pass off as BD's.

Yes.. Totally agreeded.. As such this is gonna have an impact of the true BD breeders..

U have good point there.. but u also seem too sure that it's based on assumptions..
Here which u are too overly confident my friend.. we are giving pointers to new guys who wanna own them..
It seems like u do have extensive homework done.. But not about breeding..
We talking about running an honest dealing here.. Not half hybrids to be sold as the real deal..
So I would have to say that the only real reputable breeder here is Mark Huveneer..
No other reputable one that i heard or know of..

Maybe u can get a few pointers about the genes.. And get some asnwers for urself bro..
No offence.. but breeding without knowing anything..?? Thats a lot of unanswered questions..

Interesting comments here. i wonder what is your nick in arofanatics. As it is not nice to bring Gene a.k.a uluaking name here without his knowledge. And there are a few more reputable breeders in the world other then Mark H you know. Even back in Singapore and Malaysia. Even top breeders some time have some disagreement when identifying a BD pup when not viewing the parents. :)

You need to understand you're on a forum with a bunch of HOBBYISTS. NOT people that are in it for the money. Many of us keep rays and in return for our hard work we're blessed with offspring.

There's a big difference between armchair breeders and real world breeders. Many of us learn what we know about rays through experience, not books. People in the world get good at what they do through doing it. Trial and error.

Trev breeds pure Leos and LeoXHens. Hybrids.
