I think as much as they could me worth around $1,100-$1,300 in value but its hard to have a lots of people wanna pay that much for them. It would be more in the line of a good deal of around $800-$1,000 that people would take a bite and buy them. Just like the value of black stingray that lost its value in the recent years.

The way I see it is a big difference between the two....The black rays supplies grew quite a bit over the years with CB becoming quite common now, as opposed to true ST, which doesn't reproduce in captivity and is extinct in the wild.

Yeah, I agree with that but the thing is that these Widebar datnoid is kinda old and not going to live that much longer. Whereas the black stingray could breed and reproduce more for you. It could also give you profit. Whereas you spending over a $1,000 widebar datnoid and only going to have it for a year or so and then i died of old age. Just me opinion.

Indeed I really I do have to agree here, as magnificent as they are I just can't justify myself to pay nearly 2k each for a fish that will probably not turn a profit back to you. But they sure are gorgeous and I really wish I had a few, but I don't mind my indos

its a collectors item. its worth the money if you want it that bad. like anything else hard to get or extinct in the wild, they seem to go up in price every year.

thats very true but unlike non-living collectors item these wonderful specimens are prone to death sadly enough and so you never know how long you can actually enjoy it before it ends up in the trash the next day, I guess you could freeze it and then keep it as a memo =D lol but to me the investment just isn't worth it but I'm not trying to derail this thread or anything, they are worth every penny that they sell for, I apparently just don't have enough pennies to buy them without regret if anything were to happen to it.

You can't really tell the exact age based on size and if cared properly datnoids live for a very long time.
If turning a profit is what drives you in this hobby than good luck to you. The black ray prices seems to drop by the day and I'm pretty sure that neither food or electricity is getting cheaper.

When someone lacks confidence when it comes to keeping fish alive it's a good sign that they have no business owning that fish in the first place. And a fish is not an "investment" unless you are planning to resale it.
