I also think that rays should have substrate but I don't go round with your attitude telling people they are wrong.

You ignore such things? You look over it just to piss nobody off? Why didn´t you told him to add substrate for the ray? Sorry but i will not stay silent when i see such things.
For the OP: Please add enough sand to the tank, so the ray can burry itself completly into the substrate.

There are many threads regarding ray substrates. Search and read.
Honestly, you will not change the habits of anyone with your approach.

3 bucks is 3 USD. in da LFS. Quite puny meal worms but my asian aros LOVE them ^^ do all sort of acrobatics to pick them off the floor. Quite funny really. SR has to compete against the lone barb which steals the worms.

I pay $20 for 1000ct of super worms....plus $20 for shipping. So $40 for 1000ct of superworms....they last a couple months. My leichardti was spoiled by the previous owner and now he is by me....since he wont eat anything else.
Thanks for the advice though unfortunately the ray is no longer with me ... he did not survive the second attack (recovered from the first - big chunk bitten off ... i thought it was accidental). Never did figure out who was it - SR or bichir
