same here. I think the Temp has alot to do with determining how successful one will be with these guys. I'm planning on keeping a heater this time around. 74 degrees and raising the temp to 80 during the breeding season. Hope thats the best way to raise them.

Actually, I currently have a Uraguay setup. Mine has a pair of red ceibals and a group of buenes aires tetras. I do have a heater in there, but it is turned down so low, I may as well just remove it. I have it set to like 70. I don't think the room the tank is in ever gets below that, and it does get warmer than that at times. This has worked well for me, with the ceibals and tetras, so far. I am hoping it will continue with these gymnos, when I get them.

Came home from a 6-day trip and found the female guarding a batch of eggs, her third spawn in two months :)

The eggs look white, but it's actually because she covered them with sand. Pretty interesting.

Congrats on the spawn. Your Balzanis look great! :D

Congrats on the fry! I think you discussed Balzani covering their eggs with sand before in another thread. I could be wrong but I do remember something like that. It is interesting behavior though. Keep up the hard work.

Yes I did. It was a tank bred group I kept a couple of years ago. This female didn't cover the eggs the first time she spawned. When she spawned the second time, I knew she was guarding eggs, and looked really hard, but just couldn't find them. Got fry though so I was right :) This is the third spawn. I wonder if she's feeling less and less secure because I pulled the fry:)

She picked up today and is holding. More headaches to come soon, lol.
