Hey everyone! well, my old thread is done because I think everything is going to be fine.
My Oscar has started eating, not much but that's because he is eating large food items. I took him in from a friend so he wouldn't end up in a LFS. He unfortunately received territorial bites from my 11 - 12 inch Marbled Goby before I could separate them... and before I could start treatment for his fin damage.
I started treatment by adding the proper dosage of big als bio support and the stuff to take chlorine out of the water (on the bottle it says it can be used to help maintain the fishes mucus coating and can help them heal as well!) I have used these two products for a long time and they have always helped the fish in my tank!
After some discussion here I picked up aquarium salt and put about 40 gallons worth of the salt in and then did a 20% water change a while later due to a very messy yet unsuccessful feeding attempt (tried blood worms, Mysis shrimp and Pollock) I decided to wait until today to add more salt.
a few hours ago I put 5 tablespoons (not heaped) into the tank and put a water pump over the pile to disperse it into the rest of the tank. I then did a 10 - 15% water change and added only half a tablespoon in so I know I did not over do it.
By my rough calculations I was at 65 gallons worth (out of 68 gallons) of aquarium salt by the time I did that last water change, so by removing 10% or so and adding half a tablespooon I am probably around 60 gallons worth of the salt in there right now. Which seems to be enough. These are all extremelllllllly rough calculations though and I fail hard at math. But at least I know there's not too much.
Here is the before and after pictures of his recovery
(not fully healed.. also his eyes seems to have been damaged and I don't think that will heal... but look at that!)

wil update here with his progress! Old thread is dead!!! going to start thinking of a name for him now that I am sure he's going to be fine (I hope! going well though
)
Thanks for reading!
