jd and con problem :(

If one of those baby cons grows up to be a female and takes to your big male convict you may be in some trouble even with all the decor. When spawning they can become pretty vicious. As for the giant danios... if you add a small school (6) after losing the baby convicts I'd say that you would still be fine. Your stock list would be full but it shouldn't increase your bioload immensely. However, it looks like everything is working out for you well right now. I'm happy that things have settled down and both fish can enjoy the tank.

Assuming the con thinks the female jd is female, no. lol.

Keep an eye on the 6 smaller cons you added. If you see a few specks of orange, expect a pairing and more aggression. Sounds silly, but I've had sub 1" cons spawn. They move very quickly when ready.

I've got jd's and cons attempting to coexist atm. The jd's outweigh the convicts substantially, but don't do too too well with the constant rush by the smaller cons. They grew up in a convict dominated tank, so they're still submissive. They've just recently started to realize showing the smaller convicts they almost fit in their mouths is a half decent deterrent. lol

Best bet with your dithers is keeping the tank well fed. They'll be dithers much longer.

Thought I'd add... I had anacharis in the con tank, it survived for a year or so without help. There's currently a very healthy grove of corkscrew val in the center of the tank. It seems to deal with being uprooted very well. (The bunches are connected by runners that re-bury easily in sand) My jd's do occasionally nibble on it, and the pleco takes after the broken off blades. You might want to grow your plants out first in your 20, and once established, add the overgrowths into your 55. That way you'll have plenty of plants to fall back on.

oohhhh ur soooo right!!! the little females r having ww3 with each other :O silly girlz.. haha they r going to go in the next few days instead of weeks as i planned.. they r still small but FULL of color.. funny u posted that because they just started there quarreling today, but with a vengeance!! im not trippin tho cuz they only picK with each other and they r dumb because he is gigantor next to them, really? lol seven or eight tiny brats picking over spots they "like".

Funny you mention that, I got some Convicts I'm growing out with my 2 Festae as well as some Dempsey's and 2 of the baby Convicts spawned and are guarding... the female is all of an inch lol But it's cool because they get these Festae who are not very big to stripe up and sort of color up a bit. I'm waiting for the slaughter house on that side of my big tank.

they r just the remains of the 50 fry i have been getting rid of slowly from when i had mating parents.. they arent in my plans, i already went thru the dang con spawning and im finally at the end!! parents r gone too thank goodness! that plant idea sounds perfect!!

I'm not worried about my Festae. They are cold blooded killers. They smaller one is about 2" and the bigger is around 3.5". The largest has murdered 3 other Festae, tried to kill a Carpintis and picked off 13 guppies of 35 in the tank with it. The smaller one has murdered a few Convicts. They didn't eat them, just killed them.

It can be, they're bickering for leader of the pack. Just get a few more and they'll leave the Cons alone.
