  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, i currently running a 300g(10x2x2)
Residents are(since July11):

Male Lyonsi 9"
Female Lyonsi 6.5"
2 Female Cutteri 3.5"
1 Male Cutteri 4"
3 T. Pasiones 4"(2M 1F)
3 Robertsoni 4.5"(2M 1F)
1 Sajica 2"
1 Panamensis

The only aggression is really between the Robertsoni which i expected but its also minimal. The tank is quite peaceful. I used to keep almost all parachromis but was only a time bomb waiting to explode. The all male thing sounds good in theory but at the end of the day someone has to be alpha and someone has to challenge. Never again for me. I wanted my tank to have a nice mixture of cichlids and be peaceful. So far i've accomplished that. My cutteri have gone to their breeding dress so maybe they'll spawn soon, then I'll see how aggressive they get with the rest of the crew.

What strain of cutteri do you have? I had a pair in my 125 with other fish that would spawn constantly... Only problem was when the fry would inevitably get picked off the male would blame the female and tear her up a bit... All would be fine a day or two later and they'd go right back to breeding. They were fearless on defending the breeding site but never damaged other fish, just a quick chase.

If you have an extra female cutteri shoot me a PM--if you can ship. My old female got killed when I went on vacation by a tank mate... More CA comm tank drama. ;) That is the only adult CA I have ever lost to aggression.

Awesome! PM me pictures or a link to a thread with them when you get them!

Speaking of the black belt, he's currently in my sump. How's that for "compatability"... Sigh. ;)

lol in the sump. Yet another bonus for the sump setup. How big is that blackbelt? He is really one of the prettiest I've ever seen

Thanks lol. He's pretty big. Around 12". He might have to go live with Cavamart for a while until I can set up another tank for him. He's fine with smaller CAs, but nothing big.

I got a jag that would make a good roommate or him;)

beautiful fish thou

LOL! They are actually found in the same bodies of water with jags naturally, in Lake Izabal (Guatemala) at least. Don't think he'd like that though. :)

lol I know she wouldn't either.

Interesting there aren't more large ce communities on here. The ones one here are really cool sounding, but I thought there'd be more of them

Love this thread guys! Find it very interesting reading about which combos work for who. Absolutely love the idea of a large CA community tank and hopefully someday I have the space and cash to set something like that up. Keep this thread going pls I'm hooked.

Hey guys just added an Argentea, Regani, and Maculicauda to my 240 all between 5"-7.5" and thye seem to be doing great so far. Been in the tank 2 days and the black belt is the most out going even though the argentea is the biggest. The Argentea follows the black belt everywhere and the regani is always off doing his own thing with the 3" dovii fry lol. all males BTW
