This was after re-scaping the tank...seemed like i ripped out half a rainforest lol

switched to slower growing plants and more foreground variety...

I have a pond and another large tank for the MFK collection haha...when these grow outs get bigger they will be transfer over...for now they are fertilizing the plant tank very well lol...and look great in it =)

Very nice, plants has so much growth and so green that's why i was wondering.

There's about 3 watts per gallon so lighting is more than enough...but I think the key is really the bioload from the fish...i torn down a 24 gal nano plant tank and the black sand/carribea sand mixture was like mud as i scooped it out, smelled like it too if not worse. the plants in that tank grew like there's no tomorrow.

this red sea max 34 gal has more light and the bioload is alot higher plus I dose excel and flourish regularly. Anubius tends to be a slow grower but i see new leaves and or sprouts every week. The substrate in this tank is also pretty old so i'm sure alot of crap (literally) is in it, making it a nice rich feast for the roots of the plants...

I tried getting a planted tank together but just have trouble because i dont use a c02 diffuser. The plants were green from the t5 lighting on the 55 gal but were not growing as much as i would like. A buddy of mine told me to use miracle mix fertilizer and add that at the base of the tank and then layer it with sand and gravel. I thought it was hilarious until i saw his tank and was pretty amazed it worked. Plants rooted in them and grew like no tomorrow. Plus he also have a c02 diffuser which makes it grow like no tomorrow.
