best live food to breed?

Well if I did gothe convict route I might be able to move the parents to the main tank if their big enough, I have a 17" rck that could possibly eat them. Also a small peacock bass in the main tank, so unless I pickup a small devider or make some new small hiding spots for the parents. My real concern is the parents, I have everything I need to take care of the fry aside from multiple tanks for the different stages of growth. Would I be able to leave both parent fish in the tank? Or is it still recommended to remove the male? When my black mollies bred I just left both parents in, but at that point in time I wasnt "trying" to breed it just happend, I think I lost a few due to parents eating them but Im not really sure.

So ill take your guys advice and go with the convicts. If it doesnt work out then im back to mollies lol.
 
Mollies, guppies, and platies are best.

In a 30g I think u can leave the pair or send the male to ur main tank... From the frys u get keep one male and 3 female and you have non stop supply of frys :) GL
 
what every one fails to mention about cons is....they take for ever to get to a decent size...two months before they are any where near the 1/2 inch mark. ..AND they are cockroaches...if you fish are not great hunters and you have hiding spaces in the tank some will get away an live.

i suggest

Guppies: at adult sizes (3 inches) the females can pump out 80-120 fry every 3 weeks..you can get the fry to 1/2 inch in a month.(it takes a while to get females up to this size)
Paradise fish: fry grow extremely fast and they lay a batch of eggs about 80 at a time every 2-3 weeks..they take care of them all you would need is a large plastic tote and a filter..they breed like bettas but don't kill each other.
Black worms:...10 gallon tank 1/4 full of gravel ..dried oak leaves and a few ozs of live worms and an air stone..leave it alone and in about 3 months you will have about 3 times a week feeding off of them with out harming the population.

and as mentioned above the self cloning cray.though i have been having troubles with getting mine to carry threw (and they are restricted in some states)

you two have obviously never kept a mature female guppy....this is a 5 inch long breeder box..
she dropped 100+ fry at a time..

try marbled crayfish or marmorkrebs. They are manmade and self cloning(no males in the species). You just start with one and a few months later are rewarded by 50+ 1-2" young. If you were to let a few of thos live long enough to reproduce, then you have yourself a colony/never ending supply in around a year.

just one condition DON"T LET IT GET OUT
