FISHING SEASON 2K12!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Gf didnt have class today so she wanted to go to the park. So we took one of our daughter (the german shepherd) with us. Landed one 15" trout. Sorry no pic of trout too busy worrying Zorra (german shepherd) was going to grab and kill him.
Pic of my gf sleep and my daughter Zorra watching dad's back people were being too loud across the water.

Tuesday we had really good conditions to take the kayaks offshore so my buddy and I decided to hit a few wrecks a couple miles of out. Our plan was to pick up some bull minnows and drag for flounder. That plan was quickly denied as no one had any bull minnows in stock and we didnt have the time to catch any.

Plan be was to hit the jetties in Pensacola Pass for sheepshead and big bull red fish. The weather was beautiful and the fish were there but I had a hard time keeping the fish buttoned up for some reason I lost more fish then I ever have before. Not sure why. I only ended up with one sheepshead but I had several sleigh rides that ended up with pulled hooks and sheepshead lost at the yak.

Oh well, at least I was on the water.

I was on fire this morning. Landed 6 nice bass, 1 CP, several gar and a hard fighting bowfin. Lost another bowfin at the boat that would have gone 10-12 easy. Wish I woulda netted it. Also landed my PB Florida gar at 4.1, it was fat. I have landed much bigger longnose but that was a monster Florida. The 10lb bass is still eluding me. Sure wish I woulda landed the bigger bowfin. Took the wife and little one for bait when I got back in and got another net full of shiners. His evenin may be my last. Haven't decided about he morning.

Sweet, Cali weather must be nice !!!
CF it really has been lately. We have had our warmest Dec and Jan in like 40+ years or something like that. Looks like the spawning season will be sooner this years.

Man I can't wait for the day I get to try for some reds. I've been thinking about getting a kayak. There is a guy selling a Cobra Explorer Kayak for $350 that was only like 3 times. Do you think I should grab that while I can? Is the Cobra a decent 1st Kayak?

Nice Jworth! I sure hope you are getting lots of pics.

King, Ive never heard of that kayak. Around here all you see are Ocean Kayaks (usually scrambler and prowlers), Wilderness Systems Tarpon series, the occasional Heritage Redfish, and a ton of Hobies. That doesnt mean they arent good boats though and $350 for a kayak that retails over $700 per a quick google search seems like a good buy.

I just bought a WS Tarpon 120 for my dad and took it out for the first time today on some local back waters. I didnt do any fishing but came up on a couple of bald eagles which was nice. The kayak was nice. Its MUCH faster then my Scrambler but it seemed a bit more tippy. By the end of the trip though I barely noticed the tippyness and Im sure the secondary stability on the boat is great.

Had another great outing. Caught half a dozen more bass and several gar. Took 2 nice bass back to dock for pics but starter went out 2 miles from my dock so I started trolling back and had to call a neighbor to tow me in so the bass pics were in the dark. Pain in my butt. Pics tomorrow or Sunday. Won't be fishing tomorrow and flying out in the afternoon. Caught a lot of nice fish. Has been really nice.
