Royal Pleco - feedback on quality of fish

Hi all
i am looking at acquiring this piece.

just wondering, he says he has had it for 18 months and about 15cm

basically, im wondering, do you think i should buy it or start with a small one (6 to 7 cms) in the lfs?

i am very scared of STUNTING.
i want to get a royal pleco to get huge!!

Also if you could ID this for me

The size to buy at is personal preferance and how much room you have for the fish.

How would you stunt it?

These guys are really slow growers so a small one will take ages to get huge.

Worth a try. The belly is a little sunken so make sure you have some driftwood and algae wafers to fatten him up.

I agree the belly is sunk but maybe his tank mates are taking his food so get him and if you do just watch him

im scared its stunted due to lack of food, thats why the stomach is sunken?

If your scared don't buy that one just yet a look around for another one. Also if you do get it maybe start it in a smaller tank with water from your tank already just to monitor its feedings if u get it feed it zucchini and wafers

I agree with you but he may be able to bring it back to health but ask for a lower price
