Love wide tanks. One of my "Dream" tanks is a shallow (1-2 foot) but huge footprint (like 4x6'?) flowing river style tank. Lots of live plants, and hardscapes, and... and...

I remember an 8x5' tank a while back. I also posted a thread on the largest TANKS (not like built in concrete with viewing windows) and there were a couple absolutely massive tanks, can't find it on my iPhone though.

Yes width is Goood and what I'm looking to do on my future tank, plywood, 72x36x not sure of height. Is 30 too high in terms of maintenance reach ? I think I might not like the vacuuming part if it were so high, but I know my fish would love the extra height. Is there any rule of thumb about height vs how many gallons or can we do whatever we want.
