nice man, any chance u got a pic of that 17" bsb id love to see that.. biggest i've caught was probably 14"

what a beast! sounds like a great day on the water

Ncstate- I think we get caught up in marketing a bit too much. I like to take a quality brand and run with it, and hope they don't make a lemon reel that would soil thier name. The silver max is a fine product, just not as hyped as the revo. We both know they will both catch fish. A Walmart spinner could too and last just as long probably. Keep your head up and take a vacation if you need. Doesn't have to be anything flashy.

JD- nice tarpon! Way better than the 15"-24" ones I was catching. Would love to try that type of waterway. I just figured out what Seminole killifish were this past trip down. I netted several dozen. Great, lively bait for sure. What's an endangered red snapper? Surely they haven't moved red snapper to the endangered list.

i believe he's referring to the american reds being either out of season or shut down in florida. i know in NC we aren't allowed to keep em anymore, even though every time you go out bottom fishing for grouper or jacks they seem to be around in solid numbers.. its kinda like how black sea bass are out of season since october but you can literally catch them by the dozens inshore and offshore, wrecks are nearly unfishable in the offseason because you catch so many of the darned things

My buddy is a biologist and does alot of shocking surveys so he just brings a bait tank and nets up all of the shocked killis and brings them home to store in his bait tank until he goes fishing. They stay alive real well and he just used straight tap with prime and changes the water every few days. They stay alive in fresh and full salt too.

It is kind of a joke to call red snapper endangered. They guys in charge, name Roy Crabtree hate fisherman. They keep giving us shorter and shorter red snapper seasons and this year it may be less than thirty days. They keep saying that there arent enough of them but any idiot can get out there and catch dozens and dozens of red snappper. Its so frustrating that despite being the most commonly kept fish we have to throw them back just to be eaten by all the dolphins that follow you around. We were using tiny shrimp and tiny pieces of cut bait and still catching them.

That's just the gulf right? Everytime I've fished the gulf, I always catch tons of grouper and they are real strict on those too.

yeah grouper here is 1 black and 1 red per person per day.. its getting a bit crazy. cut back on commercial fishing some and it wouldnt be an issue, let people catch their own fish IMO
