Need Ideas for a 55 Gallon Aquarium

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm currently searching for gulper catfish. Apparently 1 should be ok in a 55 gal (they don't seem to need much room). They might not be very colorful, but they seem pretty interesting. Check out some you-tube vids on them. I can't wait to get one and hand-feed it prawns!
They can grow up to be around 12" I would never keep one in less than a 75 gal though

^ fair enough. I just heard they were relatively sedentary and required less space than would be expected of a fish their size. Regardless, my guy is going in a 90 gallon when I finally find one.

It was fun until it jumped out through the hole in the cover for the filter intake. :(

That sucks... if you do get some again make sure those holed aren't too big! Also I found from personal and others' experience that they jump out more when alone rather than in groups.

Ya, that's the trick.

I'm probably going to do a biotope stock, so I'll have to see what other fishes come from the same areas of the previously suggested ones.

Best tankmates for ropefish and from the same biotope are any kind of bushfish(ctenopoma) IMHO :)
