Feeding cichlids earthworms?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They make your fish grow fast and your water dirty even faster. Some fish will stop eating anything other than worms if u feed them worms too often.

It's like a kid always wanting to eat junk food and candy, if you can moderate it with your fish it one thing, if they become stubborn, spoiled brats over it - then it's an issue. Feed chopped, washed earthworm with the pellets, they get a treat and don't know the difference, much.

I feed them to my Severums once or twice a week but mix them with peas, carrots and some NLS Thera A. I also started a worm bin in my garage so that they are available anytime.

Just pick up all the worms that are coming out because of the rain and put them in a bucket with dirt. Add rotting vegtable matter to it when its availible. That and egg shells.

Seems like a lot of work for little pay off. Why not get jobs with all that time you be wasting rummaging around in the mud and feed your fish the very best, and most "safe" food....

Dude it would take like five minutes to grab enough worms to keep you goin for a while since theyre all out on the pavement. Dont be a butt hole Nick.

Dude nicks right.. Feeding them pellets makes them a lot more colorful and if you feed them earthworms it brings risk of disease.. I think I'll stick with the pellets

Chase.... You can correct me once you have a thriving tank, and don't turnover your stock like every week. I'm just saying. If you want the best for your fish. Get the best food. Next to water quality it is the most important thing for thriving beautiful fish. PERIOD. I'm sure many MFKers will have my back. Just seems sketchy and sloppy to harvest worms from an uncontrollable environment.
