So I went into the fish store today and they had a bunch of red terrors. They were selling for a super good price. I told the guy that I wanted 6. He said "you know they arnt real festae, they dont have bars or a Y bar. And i've had them before". I asked how he got them in. he said they were traded in by guy who said they were wild caught Festae but i dont think they are.

To end that story. I bought 12 lol. 5 large 6-7" they rest 4-5". Tell what you think.

"Red Convict Cichlids" in my eyes, LOL

They've gotten that popular haven't they. But I don't understand why people have ever liked convicts in the first place lol. Festae on the other hand AMAZING

Seen it happen with my very own eyes

OK Tojo - Not sure if this is an ID thread or a "gloat" one, lol... But my third guess is Hondurian RED points. Am I closer now?

no, convicts are popular because they are cheap, kept with many different fish species and in small tanks. Festae require a single tank to themselves at adulthood and don't play well with their own mate let alone others. considering how common they are here and how hard they are to get or what people will pay for them I would happily choose convicts over them anyday.

it does look like they are real festae though, Mayans would have much much larger tail spot. that being said my old female mayan was more colourful than those. if theyre festae they should colour up eventually.

Oh I know they are true wild caught Festae from peru.

They actually have really nice color just bad pics and still adjusting
. I've never had issues keeping my Festae in a community tank. Even my breeding pairs. Yeah I hues convicts will work for people who.keep 40gal tanks. But adult convoys are just.small feeders for me.

Total gloat thread.
