I've got an aggressive female Salvini with my O. No problems. Sometimes they face off and that is it. All depends on the personalities of the two fish. Try and see. Have a backup plan if it doesn't work.
Okay, I have one right now in my big tank with my EBJD, and so far it seems to be more aggressive than him. I'll probably try the salvini with the Oscar. Hopefully they work out.
Hmm....why should the Oscar be bigger than the salvini? I thought Oscars were more aggressive than salvinis?
I wouldn't imagine so. All fish are different personality wise so you may have a nasty Oscar here and there, but the salvini is a mean little guy, has some nice teeth to go with its attitude. So you want the Oscar to be bigger.

This could be a problem~ I picked up an Oscar I really liked from a lfs today. He's about an inch and a half. and my Salvini is currently an inch and a half also....the Oscar is smaller though.
Would the two of them in a 55 gallon not work out? x_x
I really like the Salvini so far, and I've been looking around for an oscar like this... ~ I'll return him and try to find another if he is really too small.
With a 1 and 1/2 inch salvini what would be a good sized Oscar?

I found some BGJD locally.....and I really want them...They're also young. The lady said she has some from 2-4 inches. I was going to maybe get some 2-3 inch ones. Maybe 3 of them, and hope I get a pair. Then get rid of the extra.
Eventually, everybody will be in a bigger tank. Until then could it work?
I'll be having to get a larger Oscar. Disappointing. He has interesting coloration. Or if needed I could just give up on the Oscar, there's always time for one later.
Any thoughts?
