All the Schroederi on here are beautiful but the last one posted by Skynoch is a great example......love this thread!

I have kept this species briefly in the past but found them exactly the same to keep as other rays, I did keep mine which was a male of 12" disc that little bit warmer but that was it, I do remember it been somewhat aggressive at meal times towards the other rays and had a liking for prawns and worms, couldn't get the fella on pellets.
It is well documented that this species can grow to monstrous proportions and I have seen pics of 24" plus animals(wild caught) however I have never seen a very large one under captive conditions. I have also seen fishermen holding Leopoldi that were over 30" disc size but realistically how many achieve this in domestic aquaria ? does anyone have a male they have grown on from young that has attained a disc size of say 18" or more?...just curious!
These are questions I'm sure a lot of the members on here would like answering, the only people that can answer such questions are those of us that have kept this species for several years.
Anybody??

I was on holidays but was sure my tiger had bred my flower just by the behavior of both rays after. About a month or so later I had seen my tank full of white fluid like after a ray had given birth so I'm thinking she miscarried then. I also found the water cleared and six hours later the water was dirty again and there was some sperm packets but I have no idea who it was but the male tiger was breathing pretty hard and off in the corner. I haven't seen any evidance of a pregnant ray but I have sold a few since then so it could have been one of those. I haven't tried to trigger anymore breeding as I haven't had the time to look after pups. My female is also aggresssive towards eating but is very slow at it compared to other ray species and cannot store the same amount of food as other species. To trigger the breeding the first time I was dripping about 1000 gallons a day for about 4-5 days when I noticed my tiger start trying to breed. My male tiger is about 22" and I have had him little longer than my flower. Tiny claspers compared to other male rays.
