All the Schroederi on here are beautiful but the last one posted by Skynoch is a great example......love this thread!
I have kept this species briefly in the past but found them exactly the same to keep as other rays, I did keep mine which was a male of 12" disc that little bit warmer but that was it, I do remember it been somewhat aggressive at meal times towards the other rays and had a liking for prawns and worms, couldn't get the fella on pellets.
It is well documented that this species can grow to monstrous proportions and I have seen pics of 24" plus animals(wild caught) however I have never seen a very large one under captive conditions. I have also seen fishermen holding Leopoldi that were over 30" disc size but realistically how many achieve this in domestic aquaria ? does anyone have a male they have grown on from young that has attained a disc size of say 18" or more?...just curious!
These are questions I'm sure a lot of the members on here would like answering, the only people that can answer such questions are those of us that have kept this species for several years.
