I'm joking with peter, know him from ways back.

I figured the mentality of this sub-forum was to bash on MBU lovers to deter them from getting one or hating themselves for getting one, my first post was posted here to share my awesome MBU and I was quickly greeted with hostility about my inability to provide for in regards to tank and nutrition.

Since this threads purpose is really to let any one thinking of buying an mbu cone up with their own conclusion on what size they think their fish may or may not need when its fully mature...

I dont think it is really solving anything though. 12 people have voted the 1000g + tank without stating why they voted and what they based it on. I'm impressed sheep can use computers, let alone 12. I think unless you explain your vote then it is void. Perhaps people who actually own them or have owned them can comment on here with what tanks they keep or kept them in. Be more useful I think.

Agree with the above ^^^.

Sure, we would all love to be able to have the room/money/time for a 1,000G aquarium for our fish but that is impractical for 99.9% of Mbu owners, so it is just conjecture and has no real value to people who already own one/are thinking of getting one.

I likewise think that one of the criteria for answering this question ought to be that you actually have owned an Mbu and not just read about it on the internet.

Just my 2-cents.

Obviously it would be great if we could get info from people who've kept MBU's for say over 20 years in different tank sizes, and can roughly see how it affects their growth...

But sadly most of the people here on these boards who have an MBU havent had them that long...

So even those experiences are more or less guess work to a certain extent too... With the only difference being that said person is currently growing one out...

How much should a 4 inch mbu sell for?

I have never owned a mbu puffer of any puffer for that matter but I would say around 600 gallons with 96 x 48 x 30 footprint would be sufficient as this give the fish twice it's length in width and four times in length.

I don't think 20yrs is a criteria as I don't think MBU's have been that mainstream for that long. Once again, another extreme opinion.

I think any info from anyone that has had their MBU outgrow a tank and have upgraded is good info, there are plenty but they have been scared off and won't post about it here. obviously there are quite a few people that have had their MBU for a great length of time and are healthy seeing the few photos and stories.

More personal experience and shared opinions with less "personal" input based on cookie cutter care sheets.
