Any CCW permit holders out there?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Do your vehicles get searched on campus or subject to search at any time? Did you sign anything for that? Ive never been on a campus so Im not sure..even if I wasnt allowed by the way of searches for whatever reason, I would still keep one in the glove compartment, its not going to be known unless you tell someone. There are way too many incidents on campuses that should make it legal for permit holders to carry on campus or atleast in their vehicles.

According to this site, there are 25 colleges that allow it now http://www.armedcampuses.org/ Not sure where you are at but Im assuming a college that doesnt allow it :)

If I get pulled over for any reason, the campus police (not mall cops but real police assigned to UF) are allowed to search my vehicle without reason. I don't think it is likely that they would but they are allowed. I may or may not keep it a contained box behind one of the seats for when I go out after leaving the campus but I will cross that bridge after I get the gun and permit. I am waiting until my 21st this weekend to be able to pick it up.

As an NRA Firearms Instructor, I can tell you some training should be required. The basic safety fundamentals should be required at a minimum. Ive seen some real bad safety stuff in my classes that students didnt know or even think about. Kinda scary. Who likes being flagged or muzzled for the non vets. Who likes seeing fingers on the trigger when not on target? For those of you who think you should not have any training, sit in on a class or two, spend some time by a gun counter at your local gunstore, Gander Mtn, or Cabelas or talk to some NRA trainers you might be amazed at what you see. My off duty carry is a Gen 4 glock 19, in a crossbreed supertuck. My duty weapon is a Gen 4 Glock 17.

I disagree, I also disagree that the NRA should be the ones teaching. They OFTEN dont know the full extent of the law they are enforcing.

I dunno, maybe its just my libertarian side comming out. I dont tell you what to do, u dont tell me. End of story.

If you like the government in your business live in California, they made a law so you can't smoke in your own house LOL. If you don't like the government in your business come to Arizona and cary legally and ride your bike without a helmet if you want. No one will tell you different.
You know, some years ago I had planned to move to relocate to that state.Might be time to look more into that, are there any fish that cannot be kept there?

Yea and your point? Just because its in legislation doesnt mean anything, you think everything is leg gets passed? Hardly... if its not passed, its not passed. Like I said before currently only 4 states allow CC.

So you are saying criminals dont get a permit....what do you call this? http://thinkprogress.org/justice/20...lony-convictions-keep-their-permit/?mobile=nc granted its only a few but it DOES happen.

A lot of states are open carry, its up to them if they want to arm themselves. A lot of states are open carry but you need a permit. Most folks are concerned about open carrry because of the possible issues it may cause, which are many.

Just so you know, a lot of folks do support the way the law is in most states mainly because of what Im trying to tell you here... such as:

“I think you should have to get a permit,” said registered Republican Craig Perry, 58, of Moseley. “I don’t think just anybody should be allowed to have a firearm. They should show safety, and show that they have responsibility to carry a weapon.”

http://www.wydaily.com/local-news/8140-delegate-wants-to-cut-concealed-carry-qred-tapeq.html

If you dont support proper training when owing a firearm, you sir need your head examined......

Ahhh, step into the insults. Classy! What do I care that some dude thinks? Because he is a registered republican? So freakin what.

And what issues with OC? People who posses an irrational fear of firearms might get there panties in a bunch? Boo freakin who. What other issues are there? Lack of an element supprise? Id rather prevent a crime then supprise someone when in the middle of a crime.

You used an extreme mix up. Cool. Fact is the percentage of people with permits that commit violent crimes is astronomically smaller than the general populace.

In Indiana we have a permit to carry whether we conceal or not is up to us. The permit is as simple as filling out the form and paying, mine was around $120 for a lifetime permit with half the cost going to the local sheriff for processing.

You should read your permit closer out is a concealment permit need to be out of sight or most cops will tell you to cover it. Just my experience I've had mine for over 20 years

Ahh...lets throw some politics out there now :)

Well you just answered your own question right there....yes some folks do get their panties in a bunch. You could be charged with disturbing the peace, brandishing, etc. but it wont hold a candle in court (unless under extreme circumstances)....there are more examples out there of issues with open carry, while 100% legal in most states, myself, I choose to carry conceal for that simple fact. I dont want someone who has an issue with my open carry or a LEO that doesnt know the law, for me to have to go to court to fight it. While I would go to fight it, its just a waste of my time. You can find OC issues all over the net, including YouTube, maybe you dont care but I sure do, I dont want any altercations, even if I am in the right. You know how corrupt the system is, lets say you have been targeted by a LEO, even thou you know for a fact you are in the right, instead of you remaining calm, you are now charged with disorderly conduct, it goes to court, the judge sides with you on the OC because it is legal but gets you on the DC, we all have seen things like this happen, state to state, judge to judge, the outcome in almost always different. I choose to live a much simpler life.

Just because an observer such as a criminal sees that OC, doesnt mean he wont take that chance, to him the reward may out weigh the risk. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. Dont think for a second just because you OC you are preventing a possible crime.

There are pros and cons of both carry, you have an option, so use it. No one way is right or wrong.

You are correct but folks with CCDW do commit crimes, here you can see datasheets from TX between the two http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administration/crime_records/chl/convrates.htm

This page is even more interesting, it shows you a lot of info http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administration/crime_records/chl/demoreportsfy10.htm

Yes, unfortunately there’s a list of fish that cannot be kept here in AZ. Also we have very high sales tax, second or third in the nation. But housing is very cheap, there’s lots of jobs and 9 months out of the year the weather is nice.

I have a Fobus for my Glock 21 and one of those Uncle Mike's inside the trousers jobs for my HK.I know,I know, cheapos but they serve their purpose.

Thats all the matters, if it works for you then you are set :)
