bigger water change and clean your filters out more often

So what do u suggest on keeping them down????? Should i be doing bigger wc??? Or should i be using something in my fx5's????

A 25% wc every 2 weeks is only 50% wc per month, thats a low amount. Atleast do 25%/week or better yet 50%/ week. I do 50% every 3-4 days and my nitrates spike at 40ppm.

Be sure to add proper amount of dechlor and seachem prime works better then stress coat imo!

Have you done many tests without shaking the bottles enough? If you've only done a few you should be fine, but if you've already gone through a noticable amount of the bottle then you might get false high readings now since the proportions on reactants in the test would be off.

You are thinking of NiRITES. That should be zero along with ammonia.

I have to disagree because my nitrates read 0 to 5ppm and my tanks been running 6 years my water comes out of the tap at 0 ppm and I do 5 water changes a week sometimes just 4 but almost all the time I read 0 nitrate once and a while if i blow off water changes awhile or go on vacation it will go up to about 5 but never higher so he could be the same as me

This depends on a number of factors, including the volume of water changed each time, how the tank is stocked, and whether or not there are live plants in the tank. And you can have an aquarium set up for a century without it ever being cycled, so the fact that the tank has been set up for 6 years doesn't mean a whole lot.

Bigger water changes result in larger drop in nitrates. I do a 75% water change every week in my 210 and my 72. My nitrates never read above 20. After water changes, they are 5 ppm or less but never 0. Also when I do large water changes, my tanks always looks cloudy for a bit. It's the dissolved micro bubbles reflecting the light. After several hours the water clears up and looks great. Every fish in my 210 is 7-12 years old aside from the stingrays so the massive water changes work for me. If it's still cloudy after 6-8 hours, test the water again. It's probably not fully cycled, or something is dissolved in your water supply (not likely).
