When it comes to NLS food, what size do I get?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
IMO NLS is cheaper when purchased in bulk but it clouds my water a lot more then Hikari pellets. I feed more Hikari to my larger monsters over NLS. I feed NLS only twice a week to my larger cichlids and loaches but they also eat Hikari. For my Geos though I feed NLS daily and it clouds my water crazy. Also makes my mech media color orange...

I've been feeding NLS for the past decade, and never once has it clouded my water. I'm not sure what you're seeing, but NLS does not cause cloudy water.

I only feed a few pellets at a time. If the fish start chewing, they are done. I've never had cloudy water when feeding this way.

Mine does cuz with Geos food just comes out of their gills. So it keeps recirculating though their mouths. It clouds my water for an hour or so but it clears up after but it does make my prefilter media color orange...

Excess food will come out of any fish's gills...
When my Congo tetras eat 3mm pellets, meant for my reedfish and ctenopoma, they shoot crap out from under there operculums. (because the pellets are slightly too big for them to swallow whole.)

I don't over feed my Geos and I feed my Geos 1mm pellets.

Raised plenty of different geos, and know countless others that have as well, all fed NLS exclusively - and never any cloudy water. lol
