So I'm not sure that there isn't already a thread like this but I had figured it could help some of us newer or curious flowerhorn keepers out, I'm hoping you know this one (chrisplosion) lol. So everywhere I look online to see what makes up a SRD or a King Kamfa says they are all unknown hybrids and so on. So maybe we could help eachother out and say "What+what= king kamfa", and so on. I'm just curious. If this it dumb or useless sorry.

naw man im curious just like you.. but i believe they use king kong parrots, green texas, red devils, viejas, and other various species to get the flowerhorn breed.

There's not really a what+what= answer. Flowerhorns are mutts& are line bred, in bred, cross bred.

It takes years of breeding to create a good looking strain.

You can't just take a Midas& cross it with a Veija& expect to have King Kamfa fry. Although you may have some fry turn out to look Kamfaish.

I'm gonna have to agree with this. Most of what you see today is the result of line breeding, its not a simple This + That = Flowerhorn. Sorry...

Oh I didn't realize there was so much involved in it, I guess not I understand more of why these guys go for so much.

One of the things I've learned since I've been keeping up with this forum and FH's is that the "KING" or "SUPER" in front of the names are more in reference to quality and probably for marketing reasons.

I've noticed that as well, I've seen just a "kamfa" that is just as nice or superior to a "king kamfa" weather it be a marketing strategy or have to do with the genetics I am unsure

Yeah, the FH breeder that I bought mine from had a King Kamfa as a wet pet and I asked him what exactly makes this guys "King?" He was like, "his white eyes and his extraordinary hump!" haha...
