I'm curious if there are benefits if i do extra water changes?
for example, I currently do weekly 30% water change to my tank,
will there be benefits to my fish if i were to do 30% water changes 2 times a week instead of just once a week?
what id my Nitrate level is quite low? what benefits are there besides getting rid of nitrate?

There's other hormones, etc... that fish are releasing into the water that we don't test for.

Because of that, more clean water will result in higher growth rates as well as better health.

I do 20% water changes every 2 weeks and my fish are exploding in growth. I mean intensely growing. I think my fish are genetically altered to become monster fish and take over the world and we become the ones in the tanks. :nilly:

Got a question doing a 50% to 60% water change once a week is that the same as doing a 30% water change twice a week or no

The best way for you to answer this is to test before and after of both methods and check the results. Its like someone said, there is a lot of factors like bioload, filter, size of tank, size of fish...etc.

So far I don't think there is any solid scientific evidence that says that it is better. Obviously if your tank is overstocked and or under filtered than more water changes are necessary to keep the toxic waste chemicals to acceptable levels. But if your filter is up to par, than I don't see a big need/benefit to doing big and frequent water changes. I know of several well known keepers that don't do water changes, they just top off, and their fish flourish. There is a well known cichla breeder that does not do water changes and breeds successfully. Best thing to do is just monitor your fish health and water parameters.

I wouldnt do that much at the same time unless there was a major problem and you couldnt wait. but if your tank is ok to begin with I would do 30% 2x or so. Adding 50% or more at one time could maybe shock him or stess him out easyer.
